Time for an inspection at a tire and alignment shop, and right away. Ford has WAY more steering and suspension problems that can lead to a crash if certain parts separate. Your mechanic will inspect the ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, control arm bushings, struts, and anti-sway bar links and bushings.

Shock absorbers, when still used, do not cause squeaks unless it is related to one of their mounting bushings. The rack and pinion assembly won't cause squeaks either. There are quite a few things that can squeak and not be serious, but that doesn't mean they can be ignored.
