I have a 2002 f150 and I have been wanting to put a lift on it. I am worried because I have no idea what kind of stress that will put on the truck. My worry comes from that the truck has 256,000 miles on it. My next question is if the truck is worth keeping and one day putting a new engine in it. The truck is 2wd and I would much rather have a 4wd. The part I am questionable about is that it won't be mechanically sound after doing that.

If you are going to modify the truck get one of the many kits that are available that lift it correctly and keep the geometry of the suspension correct. Just lifting it screws the geometry p and you end up with shimmys, shakes and general unsafe conditions. However if you really want 4wd then get a 4wd truck and modify that one.
