Should I change a noisy water pump

2002 Chev Impala Water Pump - Is it possible that the bearing can go out in a water pump and the pump still operate correctly and not have any play? There is no play when trying to move the pump by hand.I do not see any coolant from the pump itself. But it is making an noise that sounds like the bearing are shot. The car is operating a normal temps when driving.3.4l motor

Never know when is it gonna break -could be out on the interstate all it takes is 5 mins to blow something-replace it now prolonging the agony can be devastating

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I was not changing the wrong thing like power steering pump. Fairly straight forward to repair?
