Cruise Control to stop working?

I love the car, bought it 3 weeks ago drove it from KY to FL and am having problems. My cruise control stopped working on the way to FL, I am wondering if the bad transmission is causing the cruise to not engage, or is the cruise control messed up regardless?

There is a CR Cont fuse we need to check here is the cruise control wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works with a guide to hep you check the fuse with the fuse locations as well.

I totally understand. Is there any powertrain warranty that came with the vehicle?

No no warranty, bought it at a car lot as is, but would hope he would give 30 days for anything major. I drove it back home to KY yesterday and its supposed to be at the shop now which the car lot owner is talking about covering half possibly, also giving the option of buying it back. But of course I dont want to give the car back because I love it, so now im wandering if I rebuilt the trans and fix the other stuff (tensioner, shocks, wheel hub) will that be all, or is this just one bad car out of the million I see on the road? Guess its a decision I have to make

After having transmission work done and fixed properly, my cruise still will not engage. They said they cleared all the codes, and still could not get it to work. Is there something they may have missed, or is my cruise really gone bad, seperately from the trans issue that is fixed now?

1999 park avenue cruise control does not work. Fuse OK. Brake lights work. Testing the multifunction turn signal switch indicates the resume switch is not working or open. Will the resume switch cause the entire cruise control system NOT to function.

Looking at the schematic, it should still set even if the resume/accel switch is open. It is normally open in all conditions unless it is depressed. All switches are inputs to the cruise module. If there are any powertrain faults stored, that can inhibit cruise operation, so check for powertrain dtc's. In addition to the stoplamp switch input to the cruise control module, there is also the ABS/TCC switch to consider.

Your question is pretty vague. What are you trying to reset? Your owners manual will give you the proper steps. If your dash board is out then it is probably a fuse or connection somewhere. If the buttons themselves just aren't doing anything then it may be a bad connection from the button to the computer or actuator. The buttons sometimes go bad.

I have a 1998 park avenue ultra, 3.8 supercharger. The cruise control is inoperative. First the basics, when starting the car, the cruise light will light up. However, when the cruise switch is turned on, the cruise light does not light up. Now for trouble shooting already done: brake lights are all good, servo/regulator motor been replaced, fuse under passenger side dash is good and not blown. The two switches at the brake pedal have been replaced. The lever switchs, turn signals, lights etc all work fine, except cruise wont turn on. I am at ends with what may be wrong. I can find no other forums with this type of forum. Any ideas?

Where you able to fix this issue with the cruise control and what was the cause? I am having the same problem. I can get the cruise control to activate only by keeping my foot on the gas pedal and keeping the speed constant but when I let off of the gas the cruise disengages. The fuse is fine, brake lights are fine, I've replaced the cruise control switch/turnsignal lever and swapped out the cruise control module with a used one and it still doesn't work. My mechanic doesn't know what to check anymore besides getting a new module. I searched this issue on the web and have found no other solutions than what I have already tried.

First, you need to have it scanned for trouble codes.
