enter your question...My 01 Bug is getting a thermostat replacement and work on the cooling system. The mechanic also says it needs oil system work (screen and something else). I can afford to get the cooling system & therm stuff done today... my question is if I monitor the oil in the car can I drive it some until I have the cash to get the oil stuff repaired?

if the pick up screen is clogged then the oil pressure may become lower than what is needed to sufficiently lubricate the motor. it is best to get the oil system repaired first, you can monitor the engine temp. with the gauge to ensure it is not overheating until the thermostat can be replaced.
