2001 Saturn L100 dash board warning lights

when I start the engine, the warning symbol with the wrench comes on and does not go off when I drive it, is is bad for the engine to drive with it on ,the engine does run smooth with no miss I can detect

Does the car ever shift hard?Also without knowing what codes are in the computer I cant answer on if its bad to drive with the wrench light on.Let me know the exact code numbers not code descriptions you have in the computer?
