My 2001 pontiac sunfire went threw about 2 feet of water. It died, tried several time to start it. When I took off the air filter there was water in it. When I try to start it now all I here is the starter spinning. What can be wrong?

So does the engine turn over at all?Meaning does the starter spin the engine around? Also have you removed the spark plugs to see if there is any water in the plug holes?

The engine does not turn over I just here the starter spinning. I took out the spark plugs. The first plug (from the front of engine) has some sort of fluid in it. I figure it was water. The other three was empty. So is there any hope with this?

So the starter spins freely with kicking out to spin the engine over?If thats the case and the starter is getting full battery voltage then you have a bad battery.

The battery is fully charged. The engine does not crank only the starter sounds like it is spinning. With going threw the water could I have blown the engine? How can I tell? The only noise I get out of the car is the starter spinning.

Thank you

Get a wrench with the spark plugs out and see if you can turn the over freely by the crankshaft bolt.
