I have a 2001 Plymouth Neon. I was on my way to work and just a mile or two down the road, it stopped. I can try to turn it over, and it sounds like it is right there but never does actually crank. I do not know what is wrong. I checked the fluids, and they were fine. The fuel pump is ok as well. Any ideas?
Please don't tell me its the timing belt...

Have you checked to make sure the fuel pressure is within the manufacturer's specs? Have you checked to see if there is spark to the plugs?

See if the engine will start with starting fluid and let me know what happens. That will tell me a lot.
