2001 Nissan Frontier

Car won't start. The engine turns strong. But after I stop turning the key the engine acts like I only turned the key for half a sec and makes a die noise. I don't have barley any money so right now I took the plugs out they look pretty burnt up. I am gonna take some sandpaper to them to clean them up a little. Its a stick shift truck. I'v already had someone turn the key while my ear is next to the gas door and I hear humming when the key gets turned to the on position. Next will be the fuel filter. Please if you have any ideas could you let me know something. I know it could be anything. I pray its not the timing belt
