Could clicking coming from front of vehicle be a front diff low on oil on a Mountaineer AWD?

I have gone to four different mechanics and have received three different answers. The noise will sometimes go away if the car sits for a day or so but will come back. This happens both accelerating and coming to a stop. If I brake and give the car gas when coming to a stop the noise isn't as loud but will not go away totally.

The mechanic originally told me it was the drive shaft and had it replaced which solved the issue for two months. Is the timing chain issue a problem on the 5.0 V8 engines as will as the 4.0 V6?
Also, the noise stops when the car is sitting still. Would the timing chain quiet down when the car isn't moving?
