Been taking longer and longer to start, when I tried to start, turned over several times then abruptly stopped like battery went dead. Battery is 1 month old and fully charged. Now all the dash lights lite up but when you turn key to start position the dash lights go out, but the headlights stay brite, but will not crank. Can hear the starter solenoid click, so power is going to starter. Had starter bench tested and is ok. Don't know if they checked solenoid and could be problem. Tried to start in neutral, same result. Move shifter to reverse and reverse lights come on, so don't think neutral safety switch. Ignition switch? Some one said something about crank position switch? Any help would be appreciated.

Check the voltage in the battery. Whether the lights come on or not means nothing. The battery can be almost dead and still turn the light on. You can get a cheap voltmeter and read the voltage yourself. Let me know what the voltage is and I can help you more.

The battery is a little drained. It should have about 12.65volts. You should try to charge it

Charged battery fully and still same. Checked power going from ignition switch to starter and is 12.6v tested for voltage drop and is ok. Turned engine with ratchet and socket via crankshaft pulley and turns ok with a little resistance. Removed spark plug and piston is moving.

What was the voltage drop on the battery cables? What was it on the starter?
