The front end makes a growling noise when driving at normal speed

That is typical of a noisy front wheel bearing. Your mechanic will run the engine, in gear, on a hoist, then listen next to each one with a stethoscope to identify the noisy one. Sometimes you can also jack the front tires off the ground, spin the tire by hand, and feel for the vibration on the coil spring.
