Stalling

Stalls intermittently when stopping at a light. Just had fuel pump and filter replaced, since the car would not start. What are other possible causes?

After starting, engine will not idle and dies immediately. I have had the problem before and I think it had to do with an air valve, but that was replaced on the intake at about 30000 miles. I just had the problem again and since the battery was the original, I replaced it. Worked fine for about a month. Battery connections became loose, tightened and it worked fine for 2 weeks. Now it is dieing again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is getting old.

OK so have you cleaned the Mass Air Flow meter? If not then get a can of mass air flow cleaner (nothing else) and pull the mass air flow unit off and clean it. Now I also need to know any performance mods? Is it a GT or not? Lets start there and we will go from there.

It is a Bullitt GT with a cold air kit and the Mass Air Flow meter was replaced about 35000 miles ago.

Ok I still recomend cleaning it anyway. If you happen to over oil the washable filter on you car then that can cause false readings from it. I have done it once on my Mustang. The Mass Air Flow Cleaner don't cost that much and it will eliminate that as a problem. Is the check engine light on? Get back to me and we will go to the next step.

The check engine light is not on. I will clean air valve tomorrow and see how that does. Could low voltage cause the same problem?

I have a 2001 Mustang GT Bullit (4.6L) with 25k miles on it. Just recently, I have not been able to start it without having my foot on the gas pedal. Also in order to keep the engine running I have to keep my foot on the gas pedal. As soon as I take my foot completely off of the gas the engine dies immediately, no sputters, no lopes, just dies. To give some history, the car was sitting for about 8 months and then I drove it for about a month (2-3 tanks of gas thru it). Then I let it sit for about a week and that's when the problem started. One other thing I should mention is that I had a performance chip put in it about 2 years ago. Also, the battery is fully charged. One more thing, the check engine light is not on. Any ideas on what's causing the problem?

Check engine light-is On?

First we need to examine if the idle air control valve/speed controller needs cleaning. Also The engine's coolant temperature sensor whether its functioning during open loop mode adjusting fuel enrichment for cold initial starts.

Might be an EGR crack opened creating vacuum leak and diluting fuel mixture. Lets get the above checked, that don't fix it, come on back.

Low voltage can cause all kinds of problems. Let me know what you are meaning. Also let me know how it goes with cleaning the Mass Air Flow Meter. We will take it from there. Be patient we will get this fixed it just takes longer over the internet I am here till it is right ok. Thanks.

Id go with the IAC Valve, they fail frequently in Fords, given there are no vacuum leaks

What causes my 2001 mustang gt to cut off when I stop. It stays on as long as im pressing the gas pedal but when I let off it shuts right off.

LOW IDLE (STALLS ON DECELERATION)
Preliminary Checks
Check Idle Air Control (IAC) wiring harness connector. Check for vacuum leaks. Ensure vacuum hoses are routed properly. Check air intake duct.
Symptom Checks
Check the following items:
On A/T models that stall or quit on deceleration, Torque Converter Clutch (TCC), TCC solenoid or TCC circuit may not be functioning properly. See appropriate OVERHAUL or ELECTRONIC CONTROLS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
For low idle with A/C on, (Econoline 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L), check ACCS PID value. See PIN VOLTAGE/PID VALUE CHARTS - TRUCKS article. With A/C clutch engaged, ACCS PID value should indicate ON. If ACCS PID value indicates OFF, go to TEST KM, step 10) under SYSTEM TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - CNG & GASOLINE article.
Check fuel delivery system. On Natural Gas models, go to TEST HB, step 1). On all other models, go to TEST HC, step 1) under SYSTEM TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - CNG & GASOLINE article.
Check air intake system. Go to TEST HU, step 1) under SYSTEM TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - CNG & GASOLINE article.
Check engine mechanical condition. Check compression, camshaft, valve train components, etc. And repair as necessary. See appropriate article in ENGINES. If engine mechanical condition is okay, check fuel filler cap for damage or improper installation. Repair as necessary. If fuel filler cap is okay, go to TEST Z, step 1) under SYSTEM TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - CNG & GASOLINE article and check for intermittent faults.

What would cause my 2001 ford mustang to just die while driving it.
It did not spudder or nothing the motor just shut off

You will have to check for spark, injection pulse and fuel pressure and a scan for any unresolved fault codes start here.
