My daughter has a 2001 Ford Explorer and the latch release handle for the rear lift gate does not function. I cannot open the lift gate to get to the release mechanism. How can I open the lift gate without destroying or damaging the gate?

you'll have to try to get it open form the insideor if it has a power lock see if that still works. i'm sending a pic the door panel may only beheld on by clips pull that off and look where the two arrows are for a broken plastic clip there on each or to open it with panel off pull both rods towards each other, door should open then to fix .
