There's a hundred causes of noises and they all sound different and react differently to varying conditions such as engine speed, load, and temperature. Sometimes you can pinpoint the source with a stethoscope. You can find them at auto parts stores and at Harbor Freight Tools for about five bucks.
Remove the top cover to inspect the timing belt. It will only make noise if it is loose or shredding from walking off-center. If the belt has over 75,000 miles on it, replace it as a precaution. Years ago Honda recommended replacing the belt at 75,000 miles, and they typically broke at 65,000 miles. That's a real expensive repair because it causes bent valves.
