2000 jeep grand cherokee. 4.7 127000 miles. After idling large puff of smoke comes out. Smells odd. Awful gas mileage. Between 9and 11 mpg. New cat. New plugs. Old ones were corroded or burnt off? Please help, thanks, april

Do you have a check engine light and when was the last tune-up?

What's the color of the smoke-blue/white/black?

No light. Basic spark plug change acouple months ago. But they didn't do anything else. They said that was all that was included in tune up? Had jeep for 2 years and no problems until now. It looks white to me. Before changing cat it smelled sulphuric but now it smells different?

Also it is burning oil but no leak. I just put in 2 quarts and it has 700 miles before next oil change. Guess that is important part. :)

Are you overheating? White smoke indicates coolant is being burned-If not have the engine compression check-start here

You said its burning oil not leaking-do an engine compression check to determine if its valves/ring/cylinder wear problems
