Hi,
I have a 2000 Honda Accord V6 with automatic transmission and 146K miles. When I try to accelerate in gear it hesitates and chugs a lot (doesn't die though). It results in a very slow acceleration and sounds like a lot of misfiring. The engine light blinks as well. This is only when its in gear but when in park it idles smooth. It picks up RPMs easily when in park. It may be that its only when it has load that it hesitates to pick up RPMs.
The engine codes read cylinders misfires anything from P0300 to P0306. There was also an EGR code before and same symptoms - I was told to do the repair on it and change the spark plugs. I did that and sure enough the EGR port was clogged shut with carbon deposit. I cleaned it all out and replaced with Honda parts. But the same problem is still going - I was told about changing fuel filter for fuel pressure but apparently there is no fuel filter in this car, only a strainer inside gas tank. Could it be bad gas, timing going out, or what? Why is it misfiring and hesitating to accelerate. I can't figure it out at all. Thank you for any suggestions.
