Speed sensor broke when my wife hit a BiG pot hole. Replaced speed sensor and now it will not shift out of first. The speedometer works and the gear indicator on the dash lights up and when you put the transmission in drive it starts of just fine, until that first shift. It shifts real hard and then will not shift anymore after that

Was there any other damage done? Have you checked the TCM?

If the bump was that bad, there could be some loose wires or damage to the TCM (trans control module). It is located on the front of the trans above the trans pan (side of trans). Make sure the wiring to it is tight.
