Basically, you need to disconnect the power supply from under the dash. Next, remove the retaining clip from under the dash and push out the old one and replace it with the new.

When you say remove the power supply, just undo the battery part right? When getting to the lighter how do I actually go about getting to the lighter, will I have to remove part of the console or all or it?

--Thanks for lightning response !

I believe you need to remove the console on your vehicle. As far as the power supply, there will be a plug that needs disconnected.

There should be a wire coming from the lighter and it will plug into another one. Don't be worried about asking questions. That's why we're here.

You guys are so nice, thanks so much, it means a lot to get answers. I'm a first time car owner, and I just want to be capable of figuring the car out in general. Do you have any tips on where to look for screws/other methods of removing my console? It's a long center piece.

I tried to find a picture with no luck. Check on the sides of the console for small plastic round covers. They pop out and there are screws behind them.

Tried to remove the console this morning to no avail. A little disappointed that I couldn't find any screws. I found a small hole like pin in the very rear of it but nothing anywhere else. I can reach behind a little and touch the back of the lighter anyway without removing the console, but can't see a thing with just my hand in there. Oh well, I tried at least.

JUST AN UPDATE !

I found out how to take out the console after messing around and searching. I'll start simple, the cup holder. You may have to remove the top part and under there is a bolt.

You will be 10mm ratchet part for this, and probably an extender for the other bolts.

After you make that one lose go to the arm rest, open the lid and you need to remove the inside, I simply used a flat head and sort of perched it upward under I could use my fingers to pull out. Under there you'll see two bolts remove both. The last bolt is by the emergency brake, you'll need to pull up the brake to get to it and move the gray flap stuff around and under it closer to the lighter will be a little hidden bolt. It's pretty well hidden and best reached if your in the driver's seat. Remove this and the console is loose !

If you are replacing the lighter like me, don't go universal they won't work the screws aren't long enough find a replacement from a savaged car or the like/junkyard. Oh, and removing the top half for the lighter is a pain use a flat head to move around the seperate parts of the cup holder from the rest of the console, after that you can move the whole cup holder part up and close to you so you can see/replace.

Thought I would share in case anyone else needs the answer.<3
