The car accelerates on its own. You have to keep the brake pushed at all times. We bought this car for our 17 year old son. It has been in the shop more than he has drove it. We have replaced the whole cooling system, fuel pump, Ignition control module, and a few other things. We picked the car up after having the ignition control module replaced, drove it for two days and now the car accelerates on its own. Not safe for anyone driving. Can you please tell me what we should look for to get it fixed.

Try cleaning the throttle plate on both sides and iac hole with choke cleaner it may be gummy causing your problem. Then check for a vacuum hose off or broken.

Ok thank you, we will try that, do you think that is something my son could handle, he knows a little about cars, he is currently taking automotive classes at a technical college.

He probably can do this if not here is a link but you only need to go to second step as the throttle body doesn't need to be taken off just clean the plate on both sides. If spark plugs have been recently changed then it may have to be driven due to plugs taking less resistance. Drive at about 40 mph and see if it comes down. Lot of times that happens
