You might wanna try some of this stuff, some is for specifically a "Real Jeep" (CJ 5 or 7!) My linking is not working right, you may have to Copy and Paste this onto a New Tab.

https://www.2carpros.com/questions/1992-ford-ranger-wont-start

You might feel really ashamed if you "Skip" over some of this EZ stuff, and pursue the other stuff 1st........To maybe find out, you could already have been runnin'

If none of this works, remove the starter, and have it tested. This can be done at Advance Auto, Autozone, and other popular parts stores for FREE!!!!

Keep us posted on progress

Humming noise may be your fuel pump coming on and building pressure, never noticed it before? Or is this a different hum. Can verify, by listening in gas cap, while someone turns the key to "ON".

Keep results coming!
