Beginning about two weeks ago, I noticed a burning smell from my 1999 Honda Accord. I added oil last week (2 quarts) and just checked it again today. Needed to add another quart and after adding, I notice a large pool of oil under my car. I replaced the PVC valve today (suggested by co-worker) because the RPMs have been erratic and faulty valve could cause oil leak. Any thoughts on what might need to be replaced? Oil light has never come on, but the car is leaking a lot of oil (puddle). Just wanted to have an idea before I take it in. Thank you.

Look for the highest place you see oil on the engine. To leak that fast, common things are camshaft seals and the oil pressure sending unit. The seals are up high on either end of the engine. The sending unit is down low.

The most common thing would be the sending unit. It has a rubber weather-tight seal on the electrical connector. If you unplug the connector and see oil inside by the terminals, it could only get there if the unit is leaking.
