Transmission is slipping?

The only thing I can say is there is more of a load on the engine when the AC is on. That may make the problem seem worse. As far as the transmission, if an O2 sensor is causing the engine to run too rich or lean, you may actually feel a harder shift just because it isn't running as smoothly as possible.

NOTE: Based on the trouble code they got, they should be able to identify which O2 sensor is the problem.

Perhaps I need to take it to someone who has a better code reader. Thanks for your help.

My explorer will sometimes mostly after being drove for a good period of time slip into neutral when taking off from start. There are no codes or problems with the fluid. Do I need a transmission rebuild? Like I said it does not do it all the time. Is it worth rebuilding, my engine has 210000 miles on it or should I get another vehicle?

It sounds like there may be a problem with the pressure in the trans. As far as rebuild, that is all based on the condition of the vehicle and how well taken care it is. Think about it. If it costs 2K to fix the trans and the vehicle is in good shape, fix it. Think about what you would get for 2K.

We have a couple of issues with our 1999 Ford Explorer sport. First, if the engine has run for a while, usually after doing errands I have a possible transmission slippage problem right as you take off. We have no other indication of transmission problems other that this instance. If you go very slow for a little bit and keep lightly stepping on the gas you can get it to shift normally. The second problem is when you get going at about 35 mph there is an extremely irritating loud noise and echo in the vehicle. This has been a great vehicle and we are financially strapped right now and cannot afford a new vehicle but I don't know how much longer I will be able to drive it! Thank you for any information.

We had the trans serviced about a year and a half ago, but probably only 10K miles or so. The truck used to be my husbands primary business vehicle but has become my run around town vehicle so it gets driven very little.

Hi:
If the trans is full, and it is slipping, chances are it need rebuilt. It sounds like the clutches are bad. Have that confirmed at a trans shop. Let me know what they tell you.

Hey, my explorer will rev up between 1st and 2nd gears and not accelerate. After it revs up it will accelerate just fine. When I stop, something will unstick underneath the floorboard. I could really use help on this, this has been going on for months and I cannot find the issue. There are no codes at all. The transmission fluid is perfect. It will not lag all the time. It can drive for two to three days and not do it. It does like to do it more often with the AC running. Earlier I was terrified, because when taking off from a stoplight, it would not go(the whole suv shook while it wouldnt go.) And then all of a sudden it jumped. Im so glad a car was not in front of me. Any ideas? I was told I could have a bad MAF but how can it be a sensor if my check engine light is off?
Also could it actually be a bad Valve Body Gasket? Thats what I think it is?

Try cleaning the throttleplate with choke cleaner on both sides as well as the iac hole. It may be sticking. If that doesn't cure it then take to a trans guy so he can scan for codes as alot of times those don't show on the auto part scanners.

If the problem is electrical, there would usually have trouble codes and since none is present, it would be mechanical or hydraulically related.

Slipping can be due pressure leaks in the system.

It could be a failing seal, which explains the intermittent condition.

You would need to perform pressure test to check if anything is wrong.

Check your fuel pressure as well and check for a vacuum leak. Also check the hoses going to the valve covers for holes.

I do for a fact have a bad fuel pressure regulator for sure which causes it to kinda rough start sometimes. There are no vacuum leaks and all hoses good.
