My standard transmission, (no fancy cruise) 1999 Dodge Neon has working front signals, and turn indicators work on the dash. However, the brake lights and back signals are not working. Have checked fuses and bulbs, and replaced the flasher unit, which made the indicator sound slow from fast to normal spacing. Power is going into the brake signal switch, but not sure it is going out. What do I look next?

Does the highmount brake lite work? At the lower rear, your brake lites and turn signals use the same bulb filament, just not at the same time. Those lower brake lites are wired through the multifunction switch. In the diagram, the black wire with yellow tracer is voltage for tail lamps, the other color is voltage for brake/turn. Black wire is ground. Use a voltage tester at the voltage circuits.
