1999 Chevy Blazer, battery light came on and the car wouldn't accelerate. It would start and but it would not run. Mechanic changed the alternator and that seemed to fix the problem. 2 weeks alternator went bad, the diode (sp?) was gone. Any suggestions?

The diode is an electrical device that is designed to allow power to travel in one direction only. If it is bad, chances are it was bad when you got the alt. Symptoms are simple. The battery will charge but then when you shut the vehicle, it will allow the battery to drain (power goes to ground through the diode.
