Driving home last night I noticed my temp gauge running 225 so I turned my radio down, and could hear my lifters rattling. My oil pressure gauge has always read 199 thinking it has been faulty since ive owned the car, but now it reads 123. Is my pump failing? I did pull the filter and checked the spring and it seems to work properly, what do I need to do next?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearing.

Will the switch cause the lifters to rattle? What is normal oil pressure on this car?

The switch will not make it rattle-the oil pressure at idle should be 10-12psi and increase to 40psi at 2K rpm
