Hello,
It sounds like that the start probably got wet and malfunctioned.
First you need to inspect the starter, check the connections.
Water can be trapped inside of it and not letting it function. Unless a component is burnt you might be able to dry it out and clean it with electrical cleaner and make it work again.
But then again is the water got inside the solenoid, more than likely the start will not work.

It is also a good idea to check the starter relay, just incase it got over loaded and failed.
You can test the relay to see it is functional.
