Why does my car stops for no apparent reason?

Why does my car stops for no appearent reason? I been having this problems a few weeks ago. I was driving normally when all of a sudden my car stoped as if it had no gas. Immediately after it stopped I tried to turn it on again but it would just crank but not start. After a few minutes I tried to start the car again and surprisingly it started. So I drove home that day. The next day the car did the same. I checked the fuel pump hoping it was defective but it was working fine. I dont know what elae to do. Please help
