If the crankshaft sensor goes bad on a 1998 plymouth neon how would the car run?

Usually, it won't run at all. Usually the computer has to see the cam and crank signal or the computer won't ground the asd relay. The asd relay supplies voltage to several system. Is it possible the cam and crank signal could be present but out of sync?
You have driveability issues? Any applicable trouble codes?
