Engine Performance problem
1998 Chevy Blazer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 160k miles

I have replaced the distributor cap several times. Each time I do the truck will run okay for a few weeks. After that the truck hesitates badly and on my scanner I get multi cyl. Missfire. I was told that the distributor gear on the 1998 Blazer is sometimes the problem. The plugs are all new and wires. Does anyone or has anyone changed out a distributor and the problem is resolved? Also the distributor cap has white carbon built up on the stems each time I replace.

Hi
Any coolant loss even a little? Is PCV system operational? Vlave good, suction on it, hose not cloged?

I will check the PCV valve as suggested. No loss of anti-freeze. Thank you for the suggestion.

Checked PCV valve and it works. Hose has some small cracks but not real bad. I was wondering about maybe distributor vent blockage? When it rains or is humid out I noticed that it defiantly runs worse. I used my scanner and cleared the P0300 code (multi cylinder misfire). I put a new cap and rotor on and it's running well again. The problem is that I know the cap will soon gain white carbon build up and start missing!
