I have a 97 4 runner that has been idling rough.
Then I got a trouble code that said misfire on cylinder 3.
So I replaced the #3 ignition coil and all of the plugs. And the cel was flashing the whole time. So then I was driving home that night and it started erratically throttling up and down like it wasnt getting any gas? Then it died and wouldnt restart. So my question is could there be another problem that would falsely send a misfire code? Maybe MAF? Fuel pump? Or Egr or catalytic conv?
Or could I have made some mistake in installing the plugs and coil? Please help!
Thanks!

That is a good question. Now that it isn't running, check to see if you get spark and fuel to the engine. Check to make sure the fuel pressure is within spec. My guess is one is going to be missing. Once you determine which is missing, then you can focus on that system.

Let me know what you find.

But the engine was running fine after I changed the plugs? And how do I check the fuel pressure? What about fuel pump or MAS? Could they be a culprit?

That is why I questioned the fuel pump pressure. If you pull the #3 plug, what does it look like?
