I have a loud knocking sound in the driver side wheel well when going over 40 miles an hour, after looking in the wheel well and also under the hood I noticed it looks like the Shock (or what I believe to be the shock or strut) is coming through under the hood, could this be causing the noise? and is it fixable?97 Plymouth Voyager Van

Thank you! I am going to take it to the shop just wanted to see if I could figure out what to have them check to make it less time there with a child.

Any signs of the strut leaking? is the suspension soft on that side compared to the other side? if it is a faulty strut/shocker they are best replaced as a set.

no signs of leaking anything that I saw..... it's just coming up through the underneath of the hood from a rust spot.... not sure how it's fixable but I'm willing to take it to the shop so they can take a look if so...
