It's easier to remove the upper control arm and replace the whole thing with the ball joints in it. That way you also get new control arm bushings too. Otherwise you'll need to rent the ball joint press at the parts store. Take the nut loose but not off of the upper ball joint stud and ht the side of the part the stud goes through with a hammer to pop it out. You have to hit it hard and more than once usually
