97 nissan pickup starts cutting out at 2500 rpm and won't go faster

it started to die as i woulld come to a stop or turning a corner. had engine light come on and had it ran on a computer said it could be the mass air flow sensor. I cleaned the sensor with air flow cleaner. that when it started to studder and cut out at 2500 rpms

the MAF may well be faulty, i would consider replacing it.
