1997 Nissan Hardbody Hard Body 4x4 4cl Standard Regular Cab Pickup Motor Blown

I have a 1997 Nissan hard body 4x4 4cl standard regular cab pickup. The motor is blown up. I have a motor that came out of 1996 Nissan hard body 4x4 4cl standard trans. I'm wondering if the motor out of the 1996 will fit in the 1997. I keep hearing different answers from people. Some day they changed it in 1997 others say it's the same. Plz help and thanks for your time
