If you have an electrical draw and removing the fuses doesn't make a difference and the draw continues, have the alternator tested. It may have a bad diode in it allowing power to run to ground.

It doesn't sound like you actually tested the draw.

There is a procedure for finding a battery draw like that.

You will need a digital ammeter and a jumper wire with clips on the ends to do this.
First rig any door switches so you can have a door open without triggering the interior lights and unplug the hood light. Remove one battery cable and attach the meter in series between the battery cable and battery post. Take the jumper wire and also attach it the same way. Leave the jumper wire on for at least 10 minutes to expire all the automatic timers. Now remove the jumper wire and read the meter. Anything over 50ma is too much draw. The way you locate this is to start removing fuses one at a time until the meter drops to normal level. This will be the circuit with something staying on. Determine what components are part of that circuit and check them individually until the problem is isolated.

I recently changed the starter in my Jeep and now I have no power. I unhooked the battery, replaced the starter, hooked the battery back up. Had power when the key was at the on position, and the dome light turned on when I opened the door. When I turned the key to start, I lost all power. Like the battery is completely dead. But when I hook the battery up to a charger it says it has a full charge.

I think the battery terminals are fine.

There was power when the ignition was turned to the on system.

I have a similar problem with my Jeep. The only difference is that I did not change the solenoid or starter. Instead I suspected the solenoid was bad. I let the vehicle sit for a while, the battery went dead, so I tried to jump start. I expected a click and no engine turnover, instead I got a click and immediate power loss.

Now I do not get electrical power to anything while the ignition is in the on position and with the jump.

I feel like a fuse was blown. I checked all the fuses in the box and they are all working. I feel like there is a special fuse for the ignition system. My Haynes manual indicates there is an inline fuse in the wiring that requires cutting wire and replacement when blown.

Are the solenoid cables hooked up correctly?

The battery terminals were the problem. I suspect your having the same problem. The fuse you are talking about is called a fusible link. The only way a fusible link would go bad is if there was a short in ignition system which in my opinion is unlikely. Check back to this post and let us know what you find.

1995 Jeep Cherokee V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles

been having problems getting car to start when in park. Almost every time must tap gear shift to really seat or make contact in park to get car to start. Just replaced battery a day ago. Started well for 2 trips, still needed to tap gear shift lever to seat in park, now battery is stone cold dead again. Not even dome light comes on. Nothing in jeep was left on. Dashboard battery indicator never showed all discharge, no charge while running. Computer sensor, electrical short? What?

Check the neutral safety switch. It may be draining the battery too. I got an easy way to find out which component if any is draining the battery. See next email/post

I bought a 98 jeep grand cherokee from my grandpa and we noticed that after a few days the battery is drained and has to be charged. He is a retired mechanic and has looked for the problem but cant seem to find it. I was wondering what this could be?

Do you have a voltmeter? Take off the negative battery cable, put the black lead on the cable and the red lead on the battery post. Pull the fuses 1 at a time, not including the ones that supply constant power to the clock, and those designed to kkep stuff alive. These will draw usually less than 2v. When you find the 12v draws, you are headed in the right direction. No I dont have those diagrams! Don't forget that with the door open that circuit will draw 12v! Check the meter before you open the door then pull that fuse!
