What would cause a blower motor to burn out?

When I bought the truck, the air conditioner would not always blow. Eventually, there was a burning smell and smoke coming from the vents. I replaced the blower motor. The old motor had spots where it looked burnt. Within an hour, the same burning smell came back. What would cause these motors to burn out?

You think it could be the resistor making the smell? Would it be intermitten if that was the case?

Usually, the fan motor will start to go bad and draw too many amps. That will cause the resister to burn up. There is a chance that it was damaged and now you smell it.
