How do you remove the oil pan from a 97 Ford.

REMOVAL

Raise and support vehicle.
Remove dual converter Y pipe.
Remove oil pan drain plug and drain engine oil from engine.
Reinstall oil pan drain plug with new gasket and tighten to 22-30 Nm (16-22 ft. Lbs.).

Remove oil pan retaining bolts from transaxle housing.
Remove the access plug from engine rear plate.
Remove transaxle support bracket from oil pan and transaxle.
Remove oil pan retaining bolts and stud bolts from lower cylinder block following removal sequence as shown.
Remove oil pan and oil pan gasket. Discard oil pan gasket.

Remove oil pump screen cover and tube retaining nut from lower cylinder block retaining stud bolt.
Remove oil pump screen cover and tube retaining bolts from oil pump.
Remove oil pump screen cover and tube from engine.

INSTALLATION

Inspect oil pump screen cover and tube O-ring for damage and wear. Replace O-ring as necessary.
Install oil pump screen cover and tube and O-ring to oil pump. Tighten oil pump screen cover and tube retaining bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. Lbs.).
Install new self-locking oil pump screen cover and tube support nut to lower cylinder block stud. Tighten nut to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.).

WARNING: EYE PROTECTION IS REQUIRED TO BE WORN DURING USE OF COMPRESSED AIR. FAILURE TO WEAR EYE PROTECTION COULD RESULT IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

Clean oil pan with suitable soap and water solution. Dry completely with compressed air. Inspect oil pan for damage. Replace oil pan as necessary.
Clean oil pan to lower cylinder block sealing surfaces on oil pan and lower cylinder block with shop towel and Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ-19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M5B392-A to remove all residues that may interfere with the sealers ability to adhere.

Install a new oil pan gasket, and apply an 8 mm (0.31 inch) diameter bead of Black Silicone Sealer F4AZ-19562-B or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A1 on oil pan gasket as shown in the illustration.
Install oil pan and oil pan retaining bolts and studs to lower cylinder block in locations shown.
Tighten bolts and nuts in three steps: Step 1: Push the oil pan against the transaxle case and tighten oil pan to transaxle bolts finger tight.

Step 2: Tighten oil pan retaining bolts and studs in sequence shown to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. Lbs.).
Step 3: Tighten oil pan to transaxle bolts to 34-46 Nm (25-33 ft. Lbs.).

Install the transaxle support bracket to the oil pan retaining stud bolts and transaxle. Tighten retaining nuts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.). Tighten retaining bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. Lbs.).
Install access plug onto engine rear plate.
Install dual converter Y pipe.
Replace oil bypass filter.
Lower vehicle.
Fill crankcase to proper level with engine oil meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C153-E.
Run engine and check for leaks.

What code? There is no code for oil light.

You need to do a manual oil pressure test first to see the oil pressure.

Why did she add 4 quarts? Did she not check the stick?

With that much overfill, the crank will airate the oil and could cause air pockets and the oil pressure will go nuts and could starve the bearings of the needed oil.

Check the pressure but the pump may or may not have been the original issue but now there is more issues.
