i was driving my 1996 dodge ram van and all of a sudden the heat stopped working then the temp gauge started going up and the van started smoking. then the oil light came on and the van stared knocking. just had the serpintine belt replaced.

sounds like the belt came off? you lost your water pump function and motor overheated causing oil to thin out and fail maybe ruining your engine? have you drove it since this happened?

Apart from the serpentine belt as fixitmr mentioned, check coolant level in radiator and note if there are any coolant leakages.
