Between 4.5 and 5 quarts, depending on the engine. We never go by numbers. Start with 4 quarts, run the engine about five seconds to fill the new filter, stop the engine and check the level. Add a little more until the level is between the "min" and "max" marks on the dipstick. "Add" and "full" are not used any longer because most engines use a little oil between changes and there were too many frivolous complaints of the level going down. As long as it stays between the two marks, you're good.
