I just bought a 1996 Camaro Z28 SS. Its one of the 1800 camaros that were made with the LT-1 Chevrolet Corvette engine,V8,5.7 Liter engine. The bearing on the A/C pump pulley glows and sparks while the engine is running. My question is, Can I replace the bearing without taking out the A/C compressor? And if so, Do I need any special tools. An exploited view if the A/C pump and how it comes apart would be of great help.

It needs to come out to repair it. However, you may want to consider purchasing a remanufactured compressor. By the time you put the labor and parts into it, you would be further ahead. Remember, the one in there has other components that can go bad.

As far as an exploded view of the compressor itself, I don't have.
