Would like instructions on changing a timing belt on a 1994 probe with 2.5 liter. Also, is there probable engine damage since the belt broke?

It's a big job, would take a mechanic almost a day. Took me two weekends. If you haven't done a lot of mechanical work, send it to a shop. The engine probably hasn't been damaged by a broken belt.

Hey everyone, I have a 93 probe GT with the 2.5L 24 valve V6. The other die it wouldn't start (dead battery) and I replaced it only to find it still wouldn't start. When I finally got it running it would sputter with any load above 1/4 throttle. It coded LHO2S and RHO2S. I replaced them an the fuel filter with no luck. I then checked compression (as to hint of proper timing). It has 175PSI on all 6 cylinders. I then separated the exhaust at the catalytic conv. And still the same. So at his point I replaced all the plugs and the crank sensor (had one laying around) and still the same. You should also know I have a new fuel pump, distributor, and plug wires. I will be checking the throttle positioning sensor today for resistance across its travel for dead spots, checking the fuel pressure, and if both check good then ill be pulling the timing belt cover to verify timing. Could anyone shed some light on what I may be missing? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

What about the ignition coil? You haven't mention that on your description. Does this problem happen only when the engine is warmed up? Or also at a cold start?

I would check for vacuum leaks? Try to spray some propane around the IM and TB and check for any change on the idle.
Also, most likely the VRIS. Have you checked the VRIS? Also try to disconnect the EGR valve if it has one.

I have a 1994 Ford Probe with 93,000 miles; made in Canada. The water pump needs replaced. I've been told I might as well replace the timing belt too. The timing belt housing has to come off to replace the water pump. One repair shop wanted to replace the timing belt, timing tensioners and idlers, the hydrolic tensioner assembly, and camshaft and crankshaft seals. A cost of $560 in parts. What parts should I replace? Is there more I should replace?
Also, can I use a computer scanner on my car? I don't know if it has a computer.

Labor is a big expense on this type of work. Replacing parts that are part of the process is cost effective if you plan on holding onto the car.

Yes your car has a computer. Possible an OBDI system.

Good luck and let us know. :)

I had a mechanic put my timing belt on and it fell off then he put a new one on and it fell off again but he couldn't tell because the timing belt cover was on so he kept trying to started then he took it back to his house and he said you know what the belt fell off it started to shred so I went and bought a new timing belt s he went and put that on and now he is saying the car will not start. He said its turning over or trying to but it will not start. & I bought a new battery. Do anyway know what the problem is?

You have what is called an interferance engine when belt is off and engine turned over the pistons strike the valves bending them. You will need to remove head replace valves. Check Tbelt idler pully for movement if any replace. Is this guy a real Tech because he should have know about the engine.
