Starting problem

I have to move gear shifter around to get 1995 Dodge Ram started, I replaced neutral safety switch still does same thing

Check the shifter linkage adjustment. Best way is to put the shifter in "park", crawl underneath and pop the linkage apart at the lever on the transmission, work the lever through the gears to be sure it has solidly clicked into "park", then see if the linkage lines up nicely with the hole in the lever. If it doesn't, there is an adjustment, but unless someone played with it previously, it would be more likely there is a worn bushing in one of the pivots or one of the brackets is loose.

If you do this procedure, be aware you are supposed to cut out and replace any nylon grommet that you popped the linkage out of. Most people don't do that, but the linkage could pop out in the future.
