I have a 1994 oldsmobile eighty eight. It has a 3.8 liter V-6. When I go to the gas station and I shut it off and fill it up with gas and then try to start it up it wont start. What would be causing this? We have put a couple different fuel pumps in it and it still acts the same way. Could you tell me where I should start looking because im not sure where to start

What led you to the fuel pump? When it didn't start, did you check for spark? Crankshaft position sensors commonly fail when they get warm and will often work again after they cool down. If it fails there won't be spark.

We just made a guess and changed the fuel pump thinking maby it wasnt getting enough fuel pressure. It doesnt matter if the motor is cold or hot it still does it. Should I look into getting a new crankshaft position sensor?

Guessing is the most expensive and least effective way to troubleshoot a problem. If the Check Engine light turned on while driving, there should be a fault code stored in the Engine Computer that will direct you to the circuit or system with the problem, not necessarily the defective part.

Some sensors commonly fail when they get hot, then work again when they cool down. There should be a fault code leading you to that circuit. If there are no codes, you have to check every system, not just the fuel pump. You have to check for spark too.
