1994 Nissan Pathfinder Car Radio Power issue

I am trying to install an aftermarket radio, but I receive no power or display. I believe the stock radio receives reduced power, as it runs audio through the speakers and picks up a AM/FM signal using the power antennae, but gives no display. How can I make sure the radio is getting the power it needs?

Are you using an adapter harness for that radio?

I am, I spliced the wires of the new radio to a harness. I made sure to splice the wires to my harness properly, but even if I didn't I don't think this could be the source of the issue as my stock radio is hardly powering on either. I also checked the fuse for my radio and it doesn't indicate any damage, though it didn't change anything after replacing it. I believe the source of my problem has to do with a short in my ground wire or the constant 12v connecting to my battery, I can get a voltmeter to verify this but even if I did, how could I fix it? I have no idea where or how to access the rest of the wires in my car other than the short length I can see in my dash.

I have a 1994 Pathfinder SE, and I can upload pictures if more information is needed.

No, no, no. You don't splice anything. That is how you fry computers. They have adapter cables available that are simple plug and play. They are available at any stereo installation shop.
