I have a 1994 honda prelude si, DOHC 2.3L and I tried starting it today and all it would do is crank not start, so I checked the fuel line while my friend was trying to start it and there wasnt any pressure so I tried squeezing the line and it would try to crank then shut off, so after I played around with the line and tried starting it again then it went on and stayed on. I shut it off and tried starting it and it went on again but I have had this problem before and thought it was cause I put regular gasoline in so I filled with premium (recommended) but same problem any clue what to look for or do? Thanks alot hope u can help!

Check the fuel pressure with a gauge if its within specs-fuel pump could be on its way out-

Such problems are usually caused by a faulty main relay. Resoldering the joints on the relay circuit board should solve the problem.

Interesting. I have a similar issue on a 94 prelude with a f22 2.0L. Sometimes the car will crank but not start (my Son's car). On my 88 CRX the joints on the main relay were faulty but it would not crank at all. I resoldered those and the problem resolved. I did not think of the relay first on the prelude because it will crank. I'll check that first because it would cost 0. Thanks for info!

For Prelude, Accord and Civic of 90 years onwards, the main relay does not affect the cranking. It can cause the Check Engine Light and/or D4/S mode light to stay on and not go off 2 seconed after ignition is turned on. Under such situation, the engine would not startor starts and then stalls and would not start again until you give it a few tries or wait and try starting later.
