Engine light will kick on then car idles at lower rpm, floods out, will only rev to 3000 RPM, and backfires when you let off of the gas at high speeds (around 75-80 because car wont go any faster at 3000 rpm). When engine light comes on a few seconds later the D4 light will start flashing when its usually only on when car is in that gear.

You need to retrieve the trouble codes to find out what is causing the CEL to come on.
Is the speedometer working ccorrectly?
Is transmission shifting correctly?

The above link explains how to retrieve codes.

The speedometer works good if its off its not by much. The car will shift fine kinda slow going into first sometimes. You just have to gain speed slower if the car is acting up because it will get to 3 grand and hit rev, atleast thats what it sounds like that to me.

Get the trouble codes and let me know what they are.

While retrieving the trouble codes for the CEL, the D4 light would be blinking codes for the transmission. Get those for me as well.

A paper clip would do nicely. Just plug either end into each of the terminals to short circuit it and it would work.

Okay I have been trying this and I have a question. Does the terminals have 3 slots on one and two on the other. And if so which slots do I put the wires in.

Use the one with 2 slots.

DO NOT use the 3 slot connector, it is the data link for scan tools only.

That is Code 14 for the transmission.

Code 14 = Shorted or Open FAS wire between TCM terminal D16 & ECM or a faulty ECM. Symptoms are transmission****** hard when shifting.

Since the engine code did not blink and it tens to flicker intermittently, it could be due to a faulty ECM.

Here are the diagnostic procedures.
