Check the battery cables. A quick check is to use an inexpensive digital voltmeter to measure the voltage between the two battery posts, then move them a half inch to the battery cables and measure again while a helper turns the ignition switch to "crank". The additional clue to cable connections is the headlights might be bright but will go dim or off completely when you try to start the engine.
If you find the voltage drops real low at the cables, put one meter probe on the cable and the other probe on the battery post, then have your helper crank the engine. Put your meter on the 2.0 volt DC scale. The maximum allowable is 0.2 volts during cranking. Check the negative and the positive cables that way. When you find one that has a high voltage reading, take that connection apart, clean it, and tighten it.
