There's two things you can consider. If the leak is really fast, you can use a smoke machine, (if you can find one), and inject a white, non-toxic smoke into the dip stick tube, then watch where it sneaks out. That will work for non-pressurized areas like oil pans and valve covers. The smoke can't push through oil in passages that become pressurized. For leaks in those places, you can add a small bottle of dark purple dye to the oil, run the engine, then search later with a black light. The dye will show up as a bright yellow stain that you can follow back to the source. Auto parts stores have the dye, and those that borrow or rent tools will have the black light.
