One morning went out to start it and it did nothing. No crank, no clicks from the starter or anything. Battery was not dead. Lights come on, radio, all work fine. When I turn the key to the "on" position, the door chime stops, when I turn further to "start" position, the dash clock dims but nothing else happens at all. I replaced the battery and the starter and cleaned all connections to each thoroughly. What could be going on? Never had any problems starting at all before this. My thought was either ignition switch or alarm system? Thanks for any help

Check fuses and fusible link and starter relay in pic. Then check grounds to battery, engine and body

All fuses are good and I tested the starter relay and it is fine too. I could not find a fusible link anywhere in there. I followed wires forever and couldnt find it. So that was not checked but everything else you mentioned was checked. Good connections, good grounds from the battery. One thing I found, while looking for the fusible link, was that the ground on the alternator looked like the insulation had cracked and I could actually see the wires, wires looked fine no breaks or anything. Not sure if that makes a difference for this problem though.

The fusible link is between battery and fuse box. Check the yellow/blk wire at starter to see if any power is coming to it. If not it may be a neutral switch or ignition switch that is the problem. If the yellow blk wire at starter isgetting juice then go to neutral switch and check blk o rblk/wht wire to see if it gets power if not it may be the starter relay which should be on right side of engine compartment.
